The organic material at the base of our products has always been enhanced by our production process; the organic matter is of selected animal origin (mainly fish and poultry) and exclusively of Italian origin. Without our sustainable input, this post-consumption organic material would otherwise be wasted and end up in the environment.
Added to this is the importance we place, as a company, on reducing atmospheric emissions, through rigorous and constant monitoring of plant efficiency and the reduction of NOx and CO2. Biofilters use bark to trap airborne dust, and the thermal energy needs for production are met by clean sources. In addition, surplus heat is shared via district heating with surrounding buildings, for a beneficial integration with the local area.
Our wastewater also undergoes phytodepuration through marsh plants that are particularly effective at absorbing the nitrogen and ammonia present in the incoming water, in tanks with a thin layer of purifying gravel.
Our commitment to eco-sustainable agricultural production continues day by day. Thanks to the results achieved so far, our circularity index of 56% is already high compared to the national average.
Grena has always been sensitive to environmental issues in order to protect our planet. We are committed, with consistency and care, to finding remedies and solutions to reduce emissions into the atmosphere and soil, as well as to promoting good habits in the company’s daily working life!
