Onion

Nutritional advice for ONIONS from sowing to harvest: onion cultivation requires careful and targeted nutrient management to ensure healthy growth and an abundant yield. Here are some tips to optimize onion nutrition:

Sowing and germination: start with a well-prepared soil enriched with GRENA LIFE, which offers a balanced supply of essential nutrients. This promotes vigorous germination and uniform seedling development.

Vegetative growth: during the early stages of growth, it is essential to support the plant with regular applications of BOOSTER. This biostimulant helps develop a robust root system and improves nutrient uptake from the soil.
Bulb development: as the plant grows, it is important to maintain a steady supply of nutrients. IDROGRENA Universal can be used to support both foliar and root growth, thanks to its formula rich in polyamines.
Ripening: in the final growth stage, applying MATURA enhances bulb quality, contributing to the development of the desired flavor and texture. Potassium will assist in protein synthesis and stomatal regulation, improving the plant’s resistance to environmental stresses.
By following these nutritional tips, you can achieve high-quality onions characterized by an intense aroma and a crunchy texture. For optimal results, it is always recommended to adapt dosages and applications to specific soil and local climate conditions, consulting an expert technician for personalized guidance.
GRENA LIFE is a high-quality organo-mineral NPK fertilizer approved for organic farming, perfect for completing onion nutrition. Formulated with meat meal, soft rock phosphate, and potassium sulfate, it provides balanced and long-lasting nourishment to the plant.
GRENA SUPERZOLFO is an organo-mineral corrective fertilizer specifically formulated for alkaline and calcareous soils, where high pH levels compromise the assimilation of microelements such as iron, zinc, manganese, and copper, causing iron chlorosis and reduced nutritional efficiency. The sulfur (S) content in the formulation lowers soil pH, making nutrients more available for plant uptake. Furthermore, sulfur contributes to the characteristic flavor and aroma of the onion.
IDROGRENA Universal is an organic liquid biostimulant of animal origin, rich in highly bioavailable polyamines that are easily assimilated by plants. Thanks to the distillation process, it is completely free of salts, making it safe and effective for foliar applications and fertigation. The main benefits include stimulating root system growth, increasing cell division, and providing an anti-stress action against transplant shock, drought, and waterlogging (asphyxia).
BOOSTER is a liquid biostimulant fertilizer based on polyamines and urea nitrogen (8%), ideal for stimulating cell development and plant metabolism, and particularly useful during vegetative growth for a “starter” effect.
MATURA is a liquid biostimulant fertilizer that combines polyamines and potassium (7%). Polyamines promote cell multiplication, flowering, and fruit ripening. Potassium enhances protein synthesis, fruit quality (taste, color, firmness), and supports ripening processes. Together, polyamines and potassium help the plant respond to environmental stresses and regulate stomata (osmoregulation).

SOIL PREPARATION: complete organic fertilization with GRENA LIFE 4.6.10S +2 MgO: 600-800 kg/ha.
IN CASE OF ALKALINE SOILS: use GRENA SUPERZOLFO: 500-600 kg/ha.
AFTER THE APPEARANCE OF THE FIRST LEAVES: perform a SOIL / RADICAL application of GRENA BOOSTER (8% urea N) every 10-12 days for a total of 2 treatments at 5 kg/ha. The product can be mixed with copper-based products.
SUBSEQUENTLY: use IDROGRENA Universal via FOLIAR or SOIL / RADICAL application depending on crop needs, performing 2 applications 10 days apart at 10 kg/ha.
FROM BULB BULKING: apply MATURA (7% K2O) via foliar spray every 10-12 days, at 3 kg/ha until the desired size is achieved.
